MACH.19 - Saguaro Country, Day 8: Ride-Around

Saguaro County, Day 8
Ride-Around
Sunday May 5, 2019

This morning we attend church where our son is pastor, and are reminded that Adam (late of the paradise Eden) not only blamed the woman for giving him the fruit to eat, but he then blamed God for giving him the woman.  Wow, what a guy!

Even though it's Cinco de Mayo, or perhaps because it's Cinco de Mayo, we opt out of Mexican and have lunch at an Italian buffet.  I'm guessing every Mexican restaurant (and there quite a few good ones here in Gulfport, as we've learned during our frequent visits) is jammed and overflowing today.

When we get home, everybody needs a ride, even the smallest, the three-year old, accompanied by her mom. So we spend about two hours tooling around the neighborhood and some roads in the area. The oldest at age 13, Danica gets the longest ride, somewhere around . I'm startled to realize that when my son was this age, we took a week-long ride to Tennessee to ride in the Smoky Mountains, spend several days white-water rafting, and learning to know each other.  I wouldn't mind a day or two with my granddaughter in like fashion, but somehow she seems so young!  These rides have become a tradition on our motorcycle visits, and each time we do it, the rides become longer and the kids enjoy them more.

Tomorrow is a travel day of  500 miles that will include the long bridge on I-10 across the Atchafalaya Swamp where we always hope there's not a major traffic backup. Kitty has washed all our dirty laundry, so this evening we'll repack and make ready for our early start tomorrow.
